Most people do not like to admit to having unwanted hair, but it is a very real nuisance just the same. Permanent hair removal is an option many people look to in order to rid themselves of embarrassing or unsightly hair. Unfortunately the perpetuation of these permanent hair removal procedures usually do not last; but they can go a long way in reducing hair growth and the appearance of body hair.

The permanent hair removal procedure used most often to remove body hair is electrolysis. Electrolysis involves sliding a hair-thin metal probe into each individual hair follicle and zapping it with electricity in order to cause localized damage to the follicle. When done correctly, electrolysis can be a painless and effective way to achieve permanent hair removal. Though this particular permanent hair removal method does not destroy the follicle for good, it inhibits growth for a substantial period of time.
Another method commonly used for permanent hair removal is laser treatment. This procedure involves the use of light to selectively heat dark targets, that being hair, while causing no pain to the rest of the skin. The procedure is good for removing hair from larger areas of the body such as back hair and leg hair. The back hair, for example, works as a dark target to absorb the heat from the light, thereby destroying the hair without the skin feeling any heat. Lasering works best as a permanent hair removal method on fair-skinned, dark-haired people, and it is not as effective with gray, red or blond hair. Any regrowth that does occur tends to be lighter in color and finer than it was before the permanent hair removal procedure took place.
Another option people might consider is a topical cream or a pill in order to achieve permanent hair removal. Both of these medications generally require a prescription. One cream quite well known is Vaniqa. This cream is designed for women only and is meant only to be used to combat unwanted facial hair. It does not actually remove hair, but retards hair growth, allowing for a more attractive appearance. Temporary hair removal methods are still necessary when using this cream, but it does aid in inhibiting the appearance of unwanted facial hair.
Though permanent hair removal can be a medical necessity in some cases, it is usually considered a cosmetic procedure. This, unfortunately, can disqualify people from getting insurance coverage for permanent hair removal. It is rather difficult to find very affordable hair removal. The electrolysis and laser treatments are not the most affordable hair removal methods, especially when they require continual treatment in order to keep unwanted body hair to a minimum. Prices tend to be given according to the area of the body in need of permanent hair removal. The cost can range from $150 for one session to remove hair from the neck, to $5000 for a full six sessions to remove hair from the legs, bikini area and under arms. There are opportunities for discounts when purchasing multiple sessions or sessions for multiple areas of the body, allowing for affordable hair removal to be a viable prospect.
Sometimes body hair, back hair or facial hair is just annoying. Other times, it can be something that truly detracts from living a carefree life. In these cases, there are permanent hair removal options to rid the body of such hair by using certain methods. These permanent hair removal methods are new and can be somewhat expensive, but it is possible to find a good deal and be rid of that burden on a near permanent basis. Back hair, facial hair, toe hair; it can all be gone with the flash of a laser or the pulse of an electrical shock.
